This recently completed development of 426 new A-Rated homes, comprises 245 houses, 93 apartments and 88 duplex units within a 52-acre site located in Farrankelly, Greystones, Co. Wicklow. The development also features over 11 acres of active open space which include a sports pitch, tennis court, all-weather multi-use pitch and a children’s play area.

The drainage and water main layouts were designed in accordance with Wicklow County Council and Irish Water standards throughout. Extensive use of permeable paving and infiltration devices promoted runoff disposal at source with attenuation systems &flow control devices prevent flooding from occurring on site but also protect the receiving watercourses from flooding.

A key challenge of the development was providing a valid design to accommodate the 23m change in level across the existing site. Lime or cement soil stabilisation, extensive site grading and various types of retaining walls were required to accommodate the proposed housing development density while also providing pedestrian and vehicular access at gradients in compliance with current Building Regulations.
